Spotlight on Education for Young Moms at 2012 Celebration of Motherhood Dinner
The Clarion Hotel in Winnipeg was the setting for the annual Villa Rosa Celebration of Motherhood Dinner on Wednesday, May 9, 2012.
Over $36,000 was raised which will be utilized by Villa Rosa to support young women to stay in school and directed to the Endowment Fund which supports Villa Rosa graduates in their post-secondary education.
One hundred and fifty guests enjoyed a wonderful evening hosted by Lindor Reynolds which featured a silent auction and entertainment by rhythm and blues artist Florence Ormasionwu who was accompanied by Frank Rizzuto on guitar.
Ashley Harvey, a former resident of Villa Rosa, moved the guests with her honest and poignant story about her journey from depressed, drug abusing teenager to independent young mom of a sweet daughter. Ashley is a social work student at the University of Manitoba Selkirk Avenue campus and was the recipient of a scholarship through the Villa Rosa Endowment Fund.
